Most excavators use triple grouser track shoes, a few use double grouser track shoes. In the design of triple grouser track shoes, first of all, the specific pressure of grounding and the meshing soil capacity between the reinforcement and the ground should be calculated to ensure the necessary adhesion; second, the track shoes should have high bending strength and wear resistance. Generally, the three grouser track shoe has two mud cleaning holes. When excavator track pad rotates around the driving wheel, the mud on the chain rail link can be removed automatically with the help of the drive gear teeth, so the mud removal hole should be located between the two screw holes that fix the track shoe on the chain rail link

 

In order to protect the ground surface and reduce the turning resistance, it is more suitable to use the lengthened track and the flat bottom track for the crawler walking device used in swamp or farmland. In order to ensure that when the track chain is at any position (including grounding, rotating around the driving wheel and guide wheel, and the upper suspension position), the stone will not be sandwiched between the two adjacent track shoes and the resulting high stress will not be caused, it is required that the pitch of the track shoes be adjusted accurately, and the lap lip of appropriate shape should be designed. The function of the lap lip is to make the fortunepart track shoes close to each other, forming a belt connecting the head and the tail. Track shoes shall be installed in the same direction. The smaller the pitch of the track, the smaller the lift of the track chain when it is running between the driving wheel and the guide wheel. In this way, the running uniformity is good, the wear of the track chain is low, and the driving efficiency is high when walking. However, the minimum pitch value should be determined according to the weight of the machine and the number of rows of the track chain. Generally, the distance between the holes on the two rows of chain tracks to install the track shoes should be larger, so as to replace the track shoes with different grounding pressure. The walking device used in marshland needs a wide track shoe and rail surface, and the bending stress of this kind of ultra wide track shoe is sometimes very high. For example, when the excavator works on the ground mixed with residual tree roots, most of the machine weight falls on a track shoe supported by the tree roots, so that the track shoe produces very high bending stress, which affects the life of the track shoe. In order to prevent the damage and bending of track shoes, it is necessary to improve the section coefficient and bending strength. If the section coefficient is increased, the height of the reinforcement must be increased, but this will obviously increase the turning resistance and affect the mobility of the excavator. Therefore, the hollow track shoes made of steel rolling should be used for the walking device with a width of more than 700mm for swamp use. Most of the two ends of the track shoes used in the swamp are made into slope angles, which is convenient to protect the surface of the ground, reduce the turning resistance and sinking, and when walking on the hard ground, the shortening of the support arm can reduce the bending moment of the edge load.

 

Excavators track shoes width more than 800 mm are mainly used in marshes, which are not suitable for general occasions. The excavator with widened and lengthened crawler traveling device is especially suitable for pipeline engineering.
